💼 Business
I’m pushing it a bit by putting this in the business category but this piece Why is LinkedIn so cringe? is doing a great public service. Looking at the personality of the site, who the customers are and what-in-the-name-of-everything-that-is-good-in-the-world their algorithm is doing? Link.
A case study about the brand Supreme - and how overexposure is the likely cause of its demise. Just like the NYT making Wordle harder and ruining the game for everyone. Link.
✏️ Design
One of our team came across this case study on a font, which is said to bring a better reading experience. I can confirm, it is nice to read. Accessibility is always a priority for us, so interesting to understand a bit more about why a bad choice of font can make things harder to read. Link.
🖥️ Technology
A very deep dive into Snappr - an API-first business. It’s a really good example of a company that grew and pivoted in response to what the users and markets wanted. This is basically what I spend my life telling clients is the way to build a digital business. It’s also an example of a company that built the API it was definitely going to need first, rather than the software. Starting out as a graduation photography company (Charmander), it evolved into a B2C marketplace for on-demand professional photography (Charmeleon), before becoming a B2C and B2B marketplace for on-demand professional photography and editing (Charizard), then finishing at its final form - a SaaS and visual content infrastructure suite plus B2C and B2B marketplace for on-demand professional photography and editing (Shiny Charizard).
