This is our bi-weekly newsletter of interesting stuff in business, design, and tech. If there is something you’d like more of or things we could be doing better then get in touch with lauren@eli5.io.

💼 Business
A long read but a good one from The Atlantic - “The Internet is Rotting”. Essentially, the creators of the Internet didn’t have enough capital (or intent) for their invention to become so big. Rather than a formal single centralised network structure, we have simply bolted networks together. The legacy of that is massive, unconstrained growth - and leftovers rotting in the background. Link.
✏️ Design
A great piece about why these designers ditched Sketch and using Figma (which is exactly what we did). From colours and fonts to plugins and collaborations. There is just so much that’s good about it. Link.
Web Designer Depot’s 20 best new sites for June 2021. We just love them all. Link.
🖥️ Technology
Most exciting launch this week goes to GitHub Copilot, a trained AI that will suggest whole lines or entire functions inside your editor. It’s powered by Codex, the new AI system created by OpenAI, so understands significantly more context than most code assistants. Link.
A CSS cheat sheet for Flexbox. Link.
🕹️ Cool stuff
If the moon was only one pixel. Link.
And if that isn’t enough space stuff for you, we recommend the Quanta Magazine newsletter for lots of cool science stuff. An article about smell receptors and neural networks? Yes please. Link.
Enjoy the rest of your week!
